MuckComedy.Com ~ How to book us

We are MUCK ~ the "Merseyside Uncut Comedy Kollective". We're a large group of amateur comedians based in and around Liverpool. Our members range from totally new comedians to semi-pro and professional acts. We were formed in June 2006 and have been running regular stand-up comedy shows in Merseyside since September 2006. We don’t exist to make money - we exist to improve ourselves as comedians by gaining stage time.

If you’re interested in booking us to run a show at your venue then we’re keen to hear from you. We’re always interested to expand our portfolio of venues and can put on an evening to suit any venue size or budget.

As a start point, we normally suggest running a single sample event. A one-off, trial night with no future obligation or commitment. We will supply:

• Professional posters a week before the show so that you can publicise the gig locally and at your venue. We’ll also advertise the gig on our website, MySpace and Facebook
• Any audio equipment required ~ we have our own professional PA systems. We can also use your equipment or link to your systems if you prefer
• An MC for the evening
• Usually around 5 comedians
• A professional standard headline act for the evening

Having run many gigs now, we’re confident that you and your customers will have a night to remember. We’re also confident that you and your customers will want more.

Normally, we do not charge "on the door" or have a fixed ticket price. Generally our gigs are free of charge to the audience. However, you can fund the night as you see fit. To fund any non-trial regular evenings, we negotiate a fixed, fair price with each venue manager. This cost is typically more than covered by increased income from the evening.

To run a one-off trial night, we’d be looking at a cost of £125 to cover payment to the professional headline act and to cover our expenses. We would normally charge a higher rate for a regular gig should you be interested in running further events.

What we would need from you:

• We need you to publicise the night well so that your locals and neighbourhood know its running
• We need a performance area with space to set-up the equipment and access to electrical points.
• We need you to assist us with running the night ~ maybe changing table layouts and ensuring the audience are settled during the acts

Some important points to note:

• We are alternative comedians. We write our own material. We are not traditional cabaret comedians/gagsters
• We position this night firmly as an amateur event - many of acts are new to comedy, some of our acts are getting paid slots at other venues - the levels of experience are mixed. However accepting our firm amateur status, we have built a strong reputation for putting on great comedy nights
• We do not and would not put 100% new comedians onto a stage at any of our events. Each new comedian will have tried their material a number of times before we approve them as being good enough for a slot in one of our shows. When running regular events at the same venue we try to have no more than two new comedians in any line-up.
• We do not limit ourselves to acts from Merseyside - we have regular visiting comedians from all over the North West
• We do not run "open mic" shows - all our acts are carefully selected before each show is ran to ensure a strong line-up
• There may be adult themes and occassional swearing in some of the sets. As such, minors should not be allowed in the audience
• If you have any preferences on type of comedian or type of comedy, we will always try to help. Please advise us when you get in touch
