116. Travellers Rest Newton le Willows
Had a great night watching some great comedy acts last night at the Travellers Rest Newton.

Some really good ORIGINAL material well delivered.

All the acts performed well and gave us a right good giggle.

I personally enjoyed the encouragement of sensible heckling that Susan dealt with excellently.

John was also another favourite of mine and could have listened to him longer.

I think this is to become a monthly event and well worth a trip to see these acts.

Best of all it's a FREE comedy night and there's not a lot of places giving you that nowerdays.

keep up the good work and see you all next month

More a comment for other comedians;

This is a really friendly gig, a great chance to try out some new material on a few people, with a nice little atmosphere AND a free drink!

Great local talent on show with very funny headliners as well.

Great comedy night, everyone did well especially the new ones. Andy made me laugh the most, he had some great gags he just needed to speak up a little bit more, although it might have just been the dodgy microphone. I also liked Marcus, liam and the shampoo one.
Great night thanks!

Another fantastic night, liked the earlier finish too.

A great line up of comics....don't believe they were newbies.
The mic was a bit sh*t, you could not hear the comics too well...although the vibration and feedback did make for a lot of fun, but please turn them up....or buy a new microphone.

Loved the Kraftwerk stuff, the fat stuff, the shopping aerosol fella, the unemployed dude and the scally at the end with the pint of tears.

Liked that dog story whoever said that one.

A small room but jammed packed with an excellent atmosphere, perfect for comedy. I was really excited about this show because it was the first show I was to headline in the UK so I couldn't wait. When we got to the pub we found out that Scooby (Phil Chapman) was the compere, I had met and watched Scooby at the Comedy Balloon in Manchester my first week here and I thought he was a fanstatic comedian and that the show would be even better knowing he was on. I was more than right, he did a phenomenal job of getting the crowd going even with the audio difficulties off the top. There were 2 intervals with 2 comedians in each section including the 3rd section. I must say the most interesting part of the show was when Boberella took the stage... first time sharing a stage with a cross dress act... turned me off gingers completely. The highlight for my set was when the act before me, Adam Staunton, without knowing me joked about a one-eyed immigrant cleaning up the McDonald's he frequented... gave me a fantastic opening line and set the stage for what I consider one of the most fun sets I have had in quite sometime. I mixed new material with tried and true, it was a great set even in dealing with a heckler that I did not understand at all. I did almost half and hour and pushed close to getting an encore except for the fact that the bar had to close... they called last call the moment I stepped off the stage. I am looking forward to performing in Liverpool again, the nicest most laid back people I have met since going to St. John's Newfoundland earlier this year. I am scheduled to perform at Comedy Central August 6 but would love to perform in Liverpool as many times as I can. I am hoping to return to Stamps Too again, the manager, an awesome man spoke Egyptian, which was very cool and was the icing on the cake for a great night. Talked to quite a few people after the show and made a great night even better. I was beaming the whole ride home... what a great night of comedy.

Bloody excellent, thoroughly enjoyed both nights. Scooby as compere was a great choice. I can't remember the name of most acts (sorry), but there wasn't a single act that didn't make me and my friends laugh. All our thoughts go to the guy that "dived" so to speak.. hope that was part of your set if not keep trying, takes some balls to go up and do what you did. But to everyone involved, thanks for a great weekend, I hope to catch you all soon.

To anyone yet to experience the fun, it comes at high recomendation. Great night out, laughs a plenty..keep up the good work.

Fantastic night!! This is definitely my favourite comedy night around. Every comedian went down well, Rob and Sean were outstanding!! Rob made me cry with laughter right from his first gag about checking his walk was ok, and Sean could have kept the crowd laughing for hours.
Thanks for a great night!

One of the best nights I have been too. Fantastic line up....with a great MC

MC McNally did a great job, warmed the crowd up nice without stealing any limelight, kept it snappy and introduced the comics well selling MUCK, the cat and the fezzy along the way. Did some cheeky jokes...plus a belter song on the guitar.

Eddie was as smooth as ever, won the crowd over easily. Looked a true professional. I liked the ad-libs with the dodgy mic. That murder she wrote bit is always a gem to listen to.

Rob was an absolute legend.....I can't believe how funny he was and the place loved him. I laughed that much that I had snot coming out of my nose, but i never had time to wipe it away as the cheeky sh*t would come out with another belter line causing more snot to bubble out. This guy is pretty new, but he didn't look it.....I reckon a lot of the established comics there that night would have been inspired by his routine. His pleasant, obvious but not predictable observations about buying shoes was as enjoyable to listen too and watch as Eddie Murphy's cook out routine. Seriously this guy tonight would make a comic either get better or give up.

Sue was as sharp and disgusting as ever. Loved the interaction with the audience. The smelly c*ck gag was probably one of the best of the night. A true professional. The place laughed all the way through. She was hard to follow.

Andy Dodd, the lanky tw*t was pretty brave and managed to deliver a cheeky set of clever puns. He got some big laughs to some lovely gags. The poor fella had the hardest job of the night, to follow Ed, Rob and sue....an absolute nightmare for such a new comic. I thought he did a sterling job.

Sean Finn The headline.
Wow.... People said he was on for 45 mins??? if he was then he only made it feel like 15 and he left with the crowd wanting more.....I and the rest of the pub could have sat and listened to him for days. Lovely set full of wonderful observations that make you laugh but also warm your heart with wonderful nostalgic touches.....thought that putty line was a belter....sean is comedy...sean is the king.....he is also very clean.... I can't see anybody not loving this guy....except maybe his brother or sister?

As always the pub, the landlord, the staff, the punters and the food were quality.

Thanks for a really good night.

All the comedians were brilliant, and so was the curry and the band. It was like a night out at Pheonix Nights.

The man going on about shoes was absolutely fantastic. I laughed that much I shat. The scary woman was good too and the Headline act was fat but funny, bl**dy funny, who was he? he was ace, he should be on telly. Has he got a DVD? [webmaster edit - that was Sean Finn (the king) - no DVD yet, but keep watching this space]

Bye

Another great night at the Cat & Fiddle, possibly my favourite comedy night around. Great set of comedians (Ray, Sh*t Nick, Derry…and the rest), great venue, great curry...all well organised. My only suggestion would be to move all the tables at the back closer to front just for the evening as it seemed a bit too spread out.

Great example of the smorgasboard of talent MUCK has on offer.STAUNTY set the standard that was maintained by SCOOBY and his hilarious set climax. DERRY's Aldi rant. 80's LUKE's tour de force followed through by SHITNICK's turd de force & STE PORTER's impressive banter with the crowd. All held together by top MC RAY BRADSHAW. Well done all

A totally different experience to what iv seen in staps in the past. I thought when you go on stage your meant to do more that 2 minutes!

Dont see how you can say the staff were noisy! The comedians were that bad for what little time they were actually on the stage, that you could hear a tumble weed blow past.

Backpack guy was very good, he made the night worth it.
the headline was terrible, any change? No still a smackhead, heard it all before.

Wasnt really a fan of the lady who used the c word repeatedly but she had some funny bits (pardon the pun)

Strange night, hardly anyone there which wasn't helped by the noisy chatter at the bar (including staff!). All the comedians did really well though despite the crowd. Shame the headliner only bothered to stay on for a few minutes - the guy with the ruck sack should have headlined anyway.

GOOD NIGHT DESPITE BEING QUIET. COULD NOT HEAR THE COMICS TOO WELL AS THE BAR STAFF TALKED TO THEIR MATES ALL NIGHT - ANNOYING.

THE FIRST GUY PHIL WAS GREAT AND THE DYNAMITE BLOKE WAS BRILL....I WOULD BLOW HIM AWAY ANY DAY.

MISSED THE HEADLINE FELLA AS HE WAS ONLY ON FOR 5 MINS...WHAT A RIP OFF HE WAS.
